Bacon Wrapped Baked Apples with Bourbon Caramel Dipping Sauce
A fun fusion of classic apple dishes all wrapped up in bacony goodness.
Directions:
- For the caramel sauce: In a small saucepan, whisk brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, maple syrup and bourbon until combined. Bring to a boil and cook until a thick syrup forms, about 8-12 minutes. Whisk butter and cream into mixture until combined. Keep warm until needed.
- Preheat oven to 350˚.
- For the apples: Place bacon on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Bake for 11 minutes or until cooked half way through. Remove and allow to cool slightly.
- In a medium bowl, combine butter, nutmeg, cloves and sugar. Microwave until melted. Add apples to mixture, toss until coated. Top bacon with remaining mixture.
- Increase oven to 400˚. Wrap apple slices in bacon and place seam side down on baking sheet. Bake for 9 minutes or until bacon is crispy. Allow to cool, serve with side of caramel sauce for dipping.
