You’re going to love serving these Jerk Seasoned Chicken Skewers for entertaining at home. They’re delicious and easy to eat. Don’t forget to make the dipping sauce too! These pair well with Crystal Creek Riesling found at ALDI. This is a sponsored post but all content and opinions are my own.
A couple of weeks ago I had the incredible opportunity to travel with ALDI, to Washington wine country to explore their partnership with Precept Wine. We spent a couple of days eating fabulous food, visiting vineyards, touring the winery, and tasting a broad line of Precept wines that are available exclusively at ALDI stores at great prices! One of my favorites was the Crystal Creek Riesling, and it pairs very well with my jerk seasoned chicken skewers.
These chicken skewer appetizers are full of flavor, and terrific to serve with a mini cheese board or as part of a larger party buffet. You can make them ahead of time and let them marinate for hours before cooking, which makes pre-party prep super easy. What’s even better is that you can get all your ingredients plus wine at one stop – your local ALDI store!
Get the recipe below, along with more about my new favorite wines from Precept!
If you think Disney is the happiest place on Earth, then you’ve never been to a wine tasting! We had so much fun tasting all the wines during our trip to Washington, and there’s something for everyone. I’ve had a favorite Riesling I’ve been drinking for about 10 years and this one from ALDI, the Crystal Creek Riesling has now taken its place. It’s not as sweet as most Rieslings, which makes it very easy to drink. It’s balanced and smooth and get this, it’s only $5.99 at ALDI! I’m telling you, you must give it a try – I’m going to load up for our Christmas cocktail party! It also goes well with Asian cuisine and seafood, like my Thai noodles with shrimp recipe.
Another new favorite is the Maison de Joie Brut Sparkling wine which is made in the true Champagne method as done in France. It’s only $11.49 and is delicious on its own – no need to make a mimosa with this one as you’ll want to enjoy the pure flavor. Try it with marinated shrimp cocktail, cheese, apples, and walnuts. Frankly, I love the bubbles with most anything!
And for the red wine lover in me, the Lot Series Cabernet Sauvignon is where it’s at. The Lot Series is available for a limited time. My usual go-to red is Pinot Noir but this one had me yearning for cab! A well balanced, full-bodied wine with a smooth finish, and the price is only $9.99. Try it with my steak filet with rich balsamic glaze or slow cooker spaghetti sauce.
It’s one thing to come away with a new favorite Riesling, but to have found three new favorites that I’m going to be buying again and again is something special. It’s time to stock up for holiday entertaining! Find your nearest ALDI here and pick some up.
Although these chicken appetizers marinate in a liquid, they cook up more like a dry rub in the end. The garlic and herb dipping sauce is perfect for the finishing touch on these.
TIP: Add a squeeze of lime to the sauce or directly onto the cooked skewers for a beautiful touch of citrus.
Jerk Seasoned Chicken Skewers
Makes 10 skewers (2 skewers per serving); Prep time: 20 minutes; Cooking time: 12-15 minutes
- 1 1/2 pounds boneless, skinless Kirkwood Chicken Breasts cut into strips (about 10 strips)
Marinade
- 2 Tablespoons Nature’s Nectar Orange Juice (no pulp)
- 1 teaspoon Baker’s Corner Sugar
- 1 teaspoon Stonemill Salt
- 1 teaspoon dried SimplyNature Organic Thyme
- 1 teaspoon Stonemill Paprika (I used 1/2 regular & 1/2 smoked paprika)
- 1/4 teaspoon Stonemill Ground Nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon Stonemill Crushed Red Pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon Stonemill Black Pepper
Pre-soak 10 wooden skewers in water for 15-30 minutes.
Whisk all marinade ingredients together in a small bowl.
Place chicken in a large resealable bag and pour marinade over chicken. Reseal bag and massage marinade into chicken so it’s completely covered. Place in refrigerator for a couple of hours, if desired.
Pre-heat oven to 450 degrees. Prepare a broiler pan by covering bottom with aluminum foil, and spraying the cooking rack with non-stick cooking spray.
Remove chicken and thread each strip onto a wooden skewer. Place on prepared broiler rack and cook for 12-15 minutes or until juices run clear and chicken is cooked through.
Remove chicken and serve with garlic herb dipping sauce.
Garlic & Herb Dipping Sauce
- 1/2 cup Burman’s Mayonnaise (I use light)
- 1/2 cup Friendly Farms Light Sour Cream
- 1/2 teaspoon Stonemill Salt
- 1/4 teaspoon Stonemill Garlic Powder (NOT garlic salt)
- 1/4 teaspoon Stonemill Black Pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon dried onion flakes
Combine all ingredients together in a small bowl. Cover and refrigerate for 2 hours.

I don’t remember seeing wine at Aldi before – is this a totally new piece, to offer wine – or maybe our store isn’t set up for it?? I’ll check it out!
